Hi everyone,

Yesterday morning I finally arrived in Sydney after an exhausting 2 day trip. And so far it's pretty great here! But let me start by telling you about the trip.

On tuesday morning, Tim dropped me off at Schiphol by car. Thanks again, mate! I already said goodbye to my parents, brother and most of my friends in the days before departure, so I was all by myself when I entered Schiphol. Quickly I found the rest of the group I would travel with and with whom I would spend the first 4 days in Sydney. We were with 10 people. Most of them did bring their whole family or some friends or both. But actually I was happy I didn't, because when everyone was saying goodbye, there were a lot of crying moms. Which is not a pretty sight :-p. So mom, dad, don't feel guilty!

During the few hours before the plane left I could get to know the other people from the group. The majority were guys, only three girls in the group. Everyone was travelling alone, except for one couple. Everybody seemed cool, positively minded and looking forward to their journey. Our seats in the plane were not booked together, so we were sitting apart unfortunately. And to be honest, I have to say I didn't really get the best people to sit next to during the subsequent 11 hours until our fuel-stop in Bangkok. Because I got to sit next to two of the most prototype, worst kind of sextourists you could possibly imagine. They were in their mid-40's, stupid as f*ck, noisy, one was fat and ugly, the other one was skinny and wrinkly with his arms covered in tattoos, and they both had a very strong north-holland-like accent. During take-off they both were giggling like little schoolgirls, because one of them (the wrinkly one) was actually scared of flying. When we finally were in the air, he kept making jokes which the other guy replied by a continuous stream of stupid giggling for at least two hours. They had brought a bottle of bacardi (liquor) which mixed with coke from the airline. And every time a stewardess came to bring a meal, serve a drink or just walk by, the wrinkly guy would make a sexist remark in dutch like 'mag ik je telefoonnummer?', 'oh, wat zitten daar een mooie bolletjes op', 'heb je vanavond vrij?' etc. So I already feel sorry for the Thai prostitutes they will no doubt hire for the 'two week girlfriend experience' (which means as much as: the girls will be at their service 24/7 for a humiliating amount of money).

Anyway, after 11 nearly sleepless hours, we landed at bangkok, had to wait about one hour. Continued to Taipei, which was a three hour flight of which i have been awake no more than 5 minutes. There in Taipei we had a hotel which was reserved for us by China Airlines, where we could stay, rest and use the swimming pool for a few hours until we continued to Sydney. Another 9 hour flight.
When we finally arrived, we had traveled for 30 hours. Btw, there were no problems in the group with lost bags, visums, luggage control or any flights delays, so even though it was a hell of a trip, there were no problems in that department.

Here in Sydney we are being guided and introduced to life in Australia by 2 people, Matthijs and Marloes. They are very nice and know a lot, and so far everyone is having a great time here. Yesterday night we went to a small pub, and even though everyone had had little sleep the nights before, we had such a good time there it became quite late after all and I didn't really keep count of how many beers we had, so I'm afraid I can;t tell you... But I can say we had a great first night here in Australia!

I will tell you more about Sydney and what it's like here, but i have written a huge story already so for now I'll stop here. See you later! Looking forward to your reactions:)

Cheers mate, Jelle

    Jasper:

    Hey Jelle,

Erg leuke verhalen!

    Dad:

    Ha Jelle,

Nice to hear from you. I figure you are happy you had no ‘moaning mom’ sniffing at your departure.
You sent evident proof of being down under with the Opera House in the background. But why is it YOU with the TWO GIRLS next to you?
Enjoy your stay and keep blogging frequently! Your Dad

Gaaf geschreven verslag Jelle. Er is eigenlijk nog niks bijzonders gebeurd, maar ik ben nu al geboeid hoe het verder zal gaan!
