Hi everyone,

At this moment I am in a place called Noosa. Lovely little town right next to the beach. There's a national koala park, a great zoo, a beautiful place called the everglades where you can do several days of kayaking. So in potential, it's great out here. Except for the fact that when it rains, all of the awesome things i mentioned above are not so awesome anymore. And it just so happens that we have had continuous rain for the past two days. And most of the two days before in Surfers Paradise it rained as well. And in Byron Bay you could leave the hostel in sunny weather and be caught in a big storm an hour later. So if you are in a good mood, you'd better stop reading here. 'Cause I think the story of my past week isnt really gonna cheer you up.

To be fair, Byron Bay actually was awesome. I already wrote about our hostel where you could have a great night just by sitting down at the central table. Together with Anko I went to Cape Byron, the most easterly point of Australia on bikes we got from the hostel. On the cape there is a lighthouse, and you can walk down to the actual most easterly pieces of land of the Australian continent. Really cool place, though we did get caught in a storm there with really strong wind and rain blowing in your face like a sandcannon.

Next day we went on to Surfer's Paradise a.k.a. the Gold Coast. Lot of high buildings right next to the beach there. It's a real partytown, kind of like miami or L.A. I reckon. Long beaches, lot of rich people living in big houses, big harbor with yaughts. It's nice to see all of the bling bling there, but you shouldn't stay for long. Maybe it would have been better if the sun was shining and the beaches were open and the waves were actually ok for surfing.
But since none of that was the case, it wasnt a lot of fun there.

Yesterday we arrived in Noosa like I said, and I think this place would be really cool if the sun came out. But I'm starting to believe I am dragging the rain with me up along the coast.

Tomorrow we leave for Rainbow beach, from where we can take the ferry to Fraser Island. We'll do a 3day 2 night trip on the island by 4WD, which I really look forward to! So my next post won't be before friday or saturday. I hope I have a more enthousiastic story to tell next time I find a computer!

See ya!

    Mama:

Cheer up, Jelle, I just checked the weather forecast for Fraser Island for the next few days: tomorrow (Sunday) cloudy with sunny spells, 2,6 mm of rain. From Monday up to Thursday sunny, dry and 19 degrees! And to comfort you even more: here it's raining so much that we will have to move our tennis tournament (LIchtmix) to a tennis hall!

    Hi Jelle,

    Adeline:

I am not sure it can cheer you up but in Paris it is also raining so much that I feel a little as if I was still in Wageningen ;)

btw, I hope your adventure in 4WD will be better than the one Lisa had told us about ,

Enjoy, it seems to be another paradise...

Ik snap al die kommer en kwel niet. Hier in de Bourgogne is het prima weer!

So much water and still no crocodiles.
The least we expected by now was a video of a hyperventilating Jelle, running in khaki shorts after a snake.
